Tema-based Sentuo Oil Refinery can now receive natural gas flows from Takoradi–based Ghana Gas The company’s gas processing plant on account of the commissioning of a pipeline that connects the refinery to the existing West Africa Gas Pipeline facility. Subsequently, Sentuo Refinery will receive gas from Takoradi via the reverse flow mechanism application by West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo). “On Sunday, November 12, 2023, we worked with some key stakeholders to seamlessly execute an interconnection exercise at our Tema Regulating and Metering Station. We are pleased to announce that our Tema Regulating and Metering The station is now connected through the Ghana National Gas Company’s interconnected pipeline to the Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited facility at Tema to deliver natural gas to them for their operations,” declared a statement by WAPCo. WAPCo described the installation and commissioning of connecting pipeline to the refinery as “a a significant milestone.” WAPCo is contracted to supply up to 120 million scf/d of natural gas from Nigeria to Ghana under the West Africa gas pipeline project, but supply has often been erratic. The reverse flow allows Ghana to transport gas from the Western part of the country (where it is produced), to the Eastern region area (which the economic hub).
